What is an Affiliate Marketing Program?

An affiliate marketing program is a method for a business to attract webmasters and partners to promote links to their site in exchange for a commission on any leads or sales generated.

A Successful Affiliate Program always includes three elements:

  • Management. The knowledge, vision, planning and execution of a program strategy
  • Affiliates. A network of websites and webmasters that you approve to promote special links to your web site
  • Technology. Software and services for your company, your affiliates, and your partners to track and measure the special links, and calculate the commissions generated

How does an Affiliate Program Work?

You decide on how you would like to pay for traffic, leads or sales delivered to you by your affiliates and partners. There are several methods of paying, and you may choose a combination of some or all of the options:

  • Pay Per Click: You pay your affiliates for each visitor they send to your web site. Typical ranges for clicks will be from 10 cents to $1 per visitor.
  • Pay Per Action: You pay for every desired action performed on your web site that was the direct result of a visitor coming through a link from one of your affiliates.
  • Pay Per Lead: You pay for each form submitted on your web site that was the result of a visitor coming through an affiliate link.
  • Pay Per Sale (Flat fee): You pay a pre-determined fee for each verified sale that was the result of a visitor coming through an affiliate link.
  • Pay Per Sale (Percentage): You pay a pre-determined percentage of each verified sale that was the result of a visitor coming through an affiliate link.

 

Your affiliates will each be given access to their own affiliate portal where they can generate special links to your site that will track all of the traffic that they send. They will be able to see all of the traffic that they sent to your site, and the clicks, leads, or sales that have generated income for them.

 

You will have access to an online control panel where you can see the activities from all of your affiliates. On a monthly basis you will prepare and send payments for any activities from your affiliates that have generated commissions for them.
